NAHDO Webinar: Data sharing applications and geo coding solutions
October 8th 2015 - 12:00 - 1:00 PM MST

Precise geocoding of hospitalization and emergency department (ED) discharge data can be used to reduce errors in linkages and improve the quality of the linked databases, provide greater analytic applications at the census tract level for surveillance activities, allow for market share analysis and provide greater understanding of the health of a community. Presentations from two projects that have used geo-coded discharge databases highlighted the importance of collaborating for success, technical approaches, findings and implications. Professor Ge Lin from the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Community Health Sciences will discussed his geo coding project with Nebraska Hospital Discharge data and the process for developing and evaluating a master address index.

Theresa Mendoza from the Dallas Fort Worth Hospital Council Foundation will presented their work on ‘hot blocks’ analysis an innovative data integration and geo coding project.
