Research Scientist SUPV 2, Health Economics - Minnesota Department of Health

This full-time position is located in the Health Economics Program of the Health Policy (HP) Division.

The Health Economics Program in the Minnesota Department of Health is the state's premiere location for conducting objective, applied health care market and policy research. The Health Policy Research Scientist Supervisor 2 is responsible for leading original research and data collection projects that provide critical information for the Commissioner of Health, the administration, lawmakers and health reform leaders as they make policy decisions in one of the most innovative and dynamic policy environments in the country. The study areas are broad and require innovative thinking and keen analytical skills. They include:

  • Health care market conditions and competition;
  • Health care spending, health insurance premiums, trends, and factors underlying the trends;
  • Health insurance coverage, health care access, population health and the uninsured; and
  • Economic evaluation of select public and population health initiatives.

The incumbent will supervise and coordinate the performance of research staff and contractors and ensure the development of timely and high quality research papers, policy issue briefs, legislative reports, and presentations for a diverse set of audiences.
