VP of Analytics and Data Operations - Center for Improving Value in Health Care (CIVHC)

The Center for Improving Value in Health Care is a nonprofit organization committed to identifying and advancing initiatives across Colorado that enhance consumers’ health care experiences, contain costs and improve the health of Coloradans by creating an efficient, high quality and transparent health care system.

Overall, the VP position leads CIVHC’s Analytics and Data Operations efforts for all related CIVHC activities including CIVHC’s consumer reporting site. The position also establishes relationships with providers and CIVHC leadership, designs and implements a strategic approach to analyzing existing and new data sources in conjunction with the Research team, determines technology and reporting capabilities required, and allocates resources efficiently. In addition, responsibilities will include overseeing new and existing external vendor contracts within the Analytics and Data Operations team.

The VP of ADO is an energetic individual who possesses a combination of strong analytical skills and strong client facing skills, working as an integral part of the CIVHC organization. The ideal candidate should be comfortable presenting and managing relationships with senior/strategic stakeholders as well as independently delivering advanced analytics and data management solutions. This person is able to direct and execute sophisticated analyses with granular data and translate those findings to executives to identify opportunities to effect change in health care. The VP of ADO is able to take complex and /or technical analytical work products and present them to audiences with varying levels of analytical expertise.

The ADO team is the central hub for data, analysis, and insights across our healthcare stakeholder base including payers, hospitals, physicians, practitioners, and other non-profit stakeholder groups. The role requires heavy collaboration with the Business Development and Research teams and within the Analytics and Data Operations team to leverage data to
drive business insights and pe
rformance.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setting overall goals for expanding current areas of expertise and developing new capabilities in order to better serve our stakeholders and build value for CIVHC.
  • Recruiting, supervising, coaching, and mentoring members of our Analytics and Data Operations team, ensuring established department goals and objectives are met in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Conceptualizing the scope of projects, assembling teams and providing executive oversight from project initiation through to delivery.
  • Oversee data and operations vendor relationships and budgeting processes related to these contracts. Monitor vendor performance and ensure all deliverables are met.
  • Partnering with leaders across CIVHC and partner organizations to assess and improve internal company operations and identify new investment and expansion opportunities for CIVHC.
  • Leads the effort to provide Analytical and Data Management Services with insightful and actionable information and recommendations to improve the performance of financial, operational, administrative and clinical initiatives.
  • In conjunction with the Research team, develops a comprehensive data management strategy to leverage all sources of healthcare data including claims, clinical, public health, socio-economic and other related entities.
  • Works with vendor(s) to determine best practice analytics constructs to create a meaningful common data transformation layer to support analytics and business intelligence tools.
  • Provides internal management with useful information for program improvement and answers ad hoc analytics requests from the business development, research and program team
  • Advises Business Development team on productizing new analyses.
  • Participate in new business meetings as needed.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends; uncover and understand the needs and challenges of our healthcare stakeholders; address these through business analysis, recommendations, and ongoing consultation based on our unique information services and ability to assess healthcare markets, customers and prospects.
