Health Services Research Director 

The Health Economics Program in the Minnesota Department of Health is seeking to fill its Health Services Research Director (HSR) position. This position, in an applied, fast-paced environment at the intersection of health policy and research, is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating technically complex research initiatives related to assessing health care system performance; cost and price trends in the health care markets; patterns of disease prevalence, service use and variation; and topics in public health economics, health care finance and health care organization.

The position provides technical leadership to the program’s management and policy staff on methodological issues, including statistical and econometric techniques and risk adjustment of public and private markets; it also provides technical assistance to contractors and research partners across the agency and state.

The HSR Director position performs and directs the compilation, analysis, interpretation of data and presents research results, including by preparing clear, concise, timely and policy relevant publications on research findings; coordinates data initiatives with data and information technology staff; develops work plans, project timelines and goals for key project components; manages hiring processes; supervises research and planning staff to ensure that project goals and timelines are successfully met; participates in MDH and interagency policy decisions; and represents MDH and HEP at local and national research conferences.
