Innovation in Data Dissemination Award 2011

In 2011, The Innovation in Data Dissemination Award was awarded to Virginia Health Information (VHI).

Through this award, NAHDO honors VHI’s commitment to their mission: To create and disseminate healthcare information, to promote informed decision making by Virginia consumers and purchasers and to enhance the quality of health care delivery. NAHDO applauds VHI’s dedication to providing information that is broad in scope, consumer focused and ranges from health insurance to hospitals and from physicians to nursing homes on their public website: www.vhi.org. Five VHI consumer guides are available for just-in-time use by consumers and employers. They include Long-Term Care, Cardiac Care, Obstetrical Care, Health Insurance Options and Hospitals. Other information includes health insurance company average allowed amounts for 31 commonly performed tests and procedures and a variety of detailed ratings for providers. VHI was the first to develop provider efficiency ratings, cesarean rates by doctor, readmission rates and other outcome measures that are available to consumers on their website. With over 1,100 visitors a day, VHI makes health information accessible to consumers, businesses and policymakers.
