BASIC FUNCTION
The President is to be responsible for the development, implementation and overall administration and management of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council and Education and Research Foundation (DFWHC-ERF). As an executive staff member of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) this position would assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Board of Trustees and President/CEO of the DFWHC.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES
- Develop and implement key strategies for fundraising, grants, education and research, data initiatives, workforce goals and community needs within the Dallas-Fort Worth community.
- Ensure that quarterly data filing requirements to the state are met and modify procedures to comply with changing regulations.
- Develop and maintain data and information services which establish access to high-quality health care data, and effectively and efficiently translate this data into information to meet specific needs of member hospitals, affiliated physicians, business representatives, health care consumers, and other selected community organizations.
- Expand products and services, with available resources and by seeking addition resources to meet current and future information needs of member hospitals and the Dallas-Fort Worth community.
- Ensure credibility of products and services including reliability and validity of analyses, consistency of analyses and recommendations with standards of clinical care, and maintain scientific foundation.
- Promote activities in member health care facilities to facilitate improved patient and employee safety.
- Identify and respond to opportunities to collaborate and/or coordinate Data Initiative efforts with other internal data efforts (DFWHC/GroupOne) and external data efforts of other organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the state of Texas.
- Promote and direct research projects.
- Provide employees with a high quality working environment, including equitable compensation and benefits, and opportunities to achieve their full potential as individuals and as employees of the DFWHC-ERF.
- Establish and maintain efficient and effective work environment.
- Facilitate team work, open communication, easy access to each team member.
- Prioritize provision of high quality workforce products and programs to assist member hospitals with changing workforce needs.
- Develop and maintain a secure environment to ensure protection of confidential and sensitive data and information.
- Develop and maintain a fiscally sound, self-sustaining data and workforce program.
- Establish strategies to reduce financial burden to member hospitals
- Develop strategies to increase investment or commitment of community members in health and quality measurement efforts.
- Serve as resource for information needs and activities of member hospitals, community, and the state of Texas as appropriate.
- Actively promote continuous quality improvement of the Data Initiative for internal and external services.
- Attend DFWHC board meetings, DFWHC executive staff meetings, and DFWHC-ERF board meetings.
- Supervise and direct fundraising and grant application process for all programs in the DFWHC-ERF.
- Evaluate and report the outcomes and effectiveness of the President's role annually.
- Promotes effective interface between the DFWHC-ERF and DFWHC and serves as a liaison for cooperation and collaboration.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Describe minimum (type and amount) of education required for competent performance in the job.
- Advanced degree required.
Describe preferred (type and amount) of experience for competent performance in the job.
- A minimum of ten (10) years experience in healthcare, which should include at least five (5) years in an acute care/hospital environment.
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in working with education and research coordination, quality initiatives, grants, fundraising and compliance areas.
Describe specialized knowledge requirements of the position.
- Supervise education and research, data initiatives and workforce strategies.
- Promote patient safety and improvement of healthcare for hospitals and communities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and large groups.
- Seasoned manager who can provide effective leadership of the DFWHC-ERF employees.
- Interacts well with individuals and represents the organization effectively on local, state and national committee structures.
- Organizes board meetings, committee agendas and provides guidance on the overall strategic direction of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council Education and Research Foundation.
