Assessment Initiative Training and Technical Assistance Resources
A site for the public health workforce

The Assessment Initiative Technical Assistance Toolkit is designed to serve as a centralized source of information and resources for the Public Health analytic workforce. The toolkit aims to contribute to the CDC’s Assessment Initiative goals of developing a more effective public health workforce, with an emphasis on health data agencies, and promoting linkage across public health data systems.

A variety of resources and materials have been collected that broadly address the priority topics identified in the needs assessment conducted by NAHDO and NAPHSIS to guide the development of a training program for the public health workforce. The types of resources include links to courses and educational materials, technical assistance sites, reports and guidelines, data sources, and software. Users should select the type of resource they are seeking from the menu choices to the left, and then browse within the specific topic area for appropriate links.

Development of the toolkit is ongoing; we will continue to solicit content for the site and will update it regularly. If you have an idea or suggestion for resources that will complement the toolkit please submit it to us via the ‘Material Submission’ link in the left hand menu. You can also use the feedback and comments link to provide any feedback that will assist in the continual development and improvement of the toolkit.

Please note that the materials made available here are not endorsed or recommended by NAHDO or NAPHSIS. This toolkit is intended as a database and users should make their own judgments about the quality of a particular resource.

The CDC’s Assessment Initiative provided the support for NAHDO and NAPHSIS to develop this toolkit, under their joint three year cooperative agreement “Improving State and Local Health Information and Data Systems”.

For more information on accessing and using health care data please go to the CDC EPHT Data Acquition toolkit on the NAHDO website.
